Late for the Train

About

Coffee & pastries • Breakfast, Café • $

A Flagstaff institution since 1993, and they've been roasting their own coffee in-house since '96. The courtyard is the real draw — a hidden gem tucked behind century-old brick walls with aspen trees and a fire pit, where you might catch a spontaneous acoustic jam. They make their breakfast burritos and croissants from scratch daily, and the batch-brewed cold brew and chai are solid. Specialty mochas like the Coconino (with their own cold-brewed coffee) and the Fireman's Mocha (with a touch of chili) are worth trying. Gets busy with college kids and laptops, so lines can be long — order online if you're in a hurry. The courtyard is kid-friendly, and there's room to spread out.

Local tip

Paw-picked by Scout

It sits directly across from Heritage Square, which makes it the perfect supply run on summer Saturdays — grab burritos and drinks, then claim a spot on the square.
