Americana Motor Hotel

Americana Motor Hotel

About

Family Lodging • $$

A 1962 motor hotel reborn in full space-age technicolor — disco balls in the rooms, an astronaut mascot, and a backyard built for lingering: hammocks, fire pits, cornhole, free cruiser bikes, and telescopes to borrow in the world's first International Dark Sky City. The heated outdoor pool stays open all year, so yes, you can swim while it snows. The Far Out window covers burgers-and-shakes duty, dogs stay free with a fenced Barkyard, and Bushmaster Park's playground is a short walk away. Fair warning: it's a true motel — exterior corridors, rooms for four at most — it sits right along Route 66 and the rail line, and a $17 daily amenity fee pads the rate.

Scout’s tip

Paw-picked by the KFF team

Check out a telescope after dark — even from the courtyard the stars are outrageous. Light sleepers should ask for a room away from the Route 66 side; the trains run all night.
