Bushmaster Park

Bushmaster Park

About

Playground • Outdoor • Free

Bushmaster Park is a 20-acre park on North Alta Vista that keeps kids busy from toddlers through tweens. There are playgrounds for multiple ages, a 40-foot zipline (with an adaptive seat, which is a nice touch), a skate park, and a fenced dog park. Tennis, basketball, and horseshoe pits — it's got a little of everything, plus picnic tables and a water fountain. Entrance is free; parking and restrooms are on site, dogs are welcome, and the park is wheelchair- and stroller-accessible from dawn to dusk. Shade is only partial, so summer afternoons here ask for hats and water. They host summer concerts and a Children's Music Festival, so keep an eye on the calendar.

Local tip

Paw-picked by Scout

There are two playgrounds — the newer structure sits out in full sun, so on summer afternoons head for the older one tucked into the shady grove of trees. The zipline's adaptive seat has an over-the-shoulder harness, which means even a two-year-old can ride, not just the big kids.
