McMillan Mesa Park

McMillan Mesa Park

About

Playground • Outdoor • Free

McMillan Mesa Park is the main trailhead into the 300-acre McMillan Mesa Natural Area, at Turquoise Drive and Ponderosa Parkway, with direct access to the Arizona Trail, the Sego Lily FUTS Trail, and the Arrowhead FUTS Trail. The city replaced the old play structure with a new, inclusive playground built for a range of ages — toddlers through tweens — and it's already a neighborhood favorite. It's also a good spot to stretch little legs on relatively flat, open grassland with views of the San Francisco Peaks and Mt. Elden. Entrance is free, daily from sunrise to sunset, with parking on site. The honest catch: there's not much natural shade (none, really), so plan around the sun and bring water. This is an open-mesa playground, not a grove.
