Mormon Lake Lodge

About
Family Lodging • $$
A 1924 lodge thirty scenic minutes southeast of Flagstaff where the Old West is the whole point: guided horseback rides, an open-pit mesquite steakhouse with a saloon, a pizzeria, and a country store, all wrapped in ponderosa forest. Cabins range from simple Western rooms to the Buffalo Ridge cabins that sleep eight with full kitchens; cribs and rollaways rent for a few dollars a night, and dogs are welcome with notice. This is a summer-only stay — the 2026 season runs May 1 through September 7 — and it's proudly rustic: some cabins skip A/C, dining hours are limited midweek, and the shallow lake itself comes and goes with the water table. Come for the campfire-and-cowboys mood, not resort polish.
Scout’s tip
Paw-picked by the KFF team
Book a morning trail ride, then plan dinner around the steakhouse's open-pit grill — but check the hours when you arrive; they're limited midweek. The country store covers picnic lunches.
